In this role, you will be part of a new team that manages the full lifecycle of platform services used by our application and product teams across the region. Your main task will be to help move our existing platforms which are predominantly made up of on-premise logical/virtual servers running legacy applications on a server-client architecture, to new cloud/hybrid platforms running modern web/mobile applications on a microservices architecture. You and the team will be responsible for evaluating, designing, building, and deploying the platform. This will require you and the team to engineer and deploy the right mix of observability, Infrastructure-as-Code, automation and AIOps technologies, and to integrate the necessary security solutions.

Job Responsibilities

Platform Engineering and Governance

• Join technical discussions and planning sessions with vendors

• Review technical proposals to ensure they meet platform requirements across YTL Cement’s business and IT systems

• Support the shift from on-premise to cloud, edge, or hybrid infrastructure by analysing needs, evaluating options, designing solutions, and testing them

• Advise on new technologies that add value and keep our IT platforms up to date

• Define, mature, and implement service standards, operating processes and controls, ensuring proper governance and compliance is practised

• Design observability solutions for infrastructure services to monitor and proactively maintain service availability

Project Implementation

• Lead the development, testing, and deployment of new services and manage updates for existing ones

• Support implementation of cost management strategies to lower the cost-of-service where possible

• Educate teams on the implementation of new platform services

• Work with security teams to integrate security tools, implement security design and configuration best practices, and patch and remediate known vulnerabilities

• Implement automation activities to increase operational efficiency by adapting Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) methodology

Platform Support

• Participate and contribute to audit processes as required

• Maintain comprehensive documentation for projects and policies

• Lead continuous service improvement activities within platform services

• Ensure all platform-related incidents are addressed, root causes are identified and fixed, preventive measures are implemented, and documentation is updated in ServiceNow

• Review and approve change requests

• Support existing legacy platform services, identify key gaps and suggest short-term fixes while charting the transition path to modern platform services
